Lush has announced that US customers will have to swallow price hikes as a result of Trump’s proposed tariffs on imports from the UK and Canada. The ethical beauty firm has stated that it does plan to have a factory in the US.
It comes after Trump defended his new tariffs, describing them as “medicine” despite rising costs putting further strain on retailers.
According to media reports, Lush is exploring opportunities to open its first hotel with a yet-to-be-named ‘British brand’.
Lush’s pre-tax loss has widened to £42.5 million from the prior year’s £28 million and sales have dipped 8.5 percent. The company has already opened its own spa, and with experiential retail trending, and the lines between leisure, travel and shopping becoming ever more blurred, a hotel could be a logical next step and help diversify income.
