L’Occitane Tackling Penang’s Plastic Pollution

L’Occitane en Provence and Plastic Odyssey vessel have teamed up in Penang (Malaysia) to confront the area’s escalating plastic pollution. More than just a clean-up initiative, Plastic Odyssey’s operations include repurposing waste into useful objects.

Plastic Odyssey’s vessel, serving as a mobile laboratory, invited the local community aboard to witness recycling demonstrations and explore plastic upcycling techniques.

Penang Green Council and other stakeholders participated in workshops highlighting Malaysia’s substantial daily plastic waste output and the need for coastal conservation.

L’Occitane’s involvement with Plastic Odyssey is just one part of its bigger mission to fight plastic waste. In Malaysia, the brand has been leading the charge with its Big Little Things (BLT) Recycling Program, which has already collected over 4.9 million empty beauty products and diverted 260 metric tonnes of waste from landfills.
